Meet Dr. Goebel

Education

Dr. Thomas J. Goebel graduated from Moline High School in 2004. He attended Augustana College for his undergraduate education and received his DDS degree from Marquette University in 2012.

Since dental school, Dr. Goebel has been passionate about continuing education. He completes over five times the amount of continuing education required by the state board—almost 100 hours every year.

Treatment Philosophy

When asked what he enjoys most about dentistry, here’s what he said:

“Being able to give someone the confidence in their smile again when they felt all hope is lost. That is one of the most satisfying things I will ever do. To give someone the ability to smile confidently again still gives me chills.”

He believes in conservative dentistry, or what dentists call minimally invasive dentistry. “I prefer to save teeth and natural tooth structure as much as possible,” he says. Technological advances like CAD-CAM restorations and bonding techniques enable him to preserve as much natural tooth structure as possible.

Cosmetic and restorative dentistry are his favorite interests. He also believes that the best dentists know their limitations, so he refers to highly competent area specialists whenever he feels that a patient would be better served with their skills.

One thing that adds greatly to his joy in his work is the team he has working with him. He calls them amazing and they are some of the prime motivators for him.

Technology

Dr. Goebel uses fully digital technology with x-rays and CEREC same-day crowns, and optically scanning impressions. He uses digital smile design when needed.

Personal

Dr. Goebel’s family has been in the Quad Cities for four generations, and he enjoys the sense of community here and loves the area. His grandfather was a trauma surgeon, and his father was a dentist who practiced with him until he retired. They both helped inspire him to want to be the best healthcare provider he could be.

He and his wife Morgan have one child, a daughter, Avery, born in March 2021. He also spends a lot of time with his beloved dog Teddy. He enjoys golfing, playing tennis, and is a die-hard Chicago Bears fan.
