Some of them may even surprise you!<br \/><br \/><em><strong>Dental Myth #1 \u2013 If You Swallow Chewing Gum, it Stays in Your System for Seven Years<\/strong><\/em><br \/>Alright, let\u2019s get this one straight \u2013 it doesn\u2019t stick around in your stomach for seven years. The truth? Your digestive system is way more efficient than that. Chewing gum typically passes through your digestive tract like any other food, and it\u2019s out of your system in a matter of days. So, chew away \u2013 sugar-free gum can help to prevent cavities. And, if you accidentally swallow it, worry not. <br \/><br \/><em><strong>Dental Myth #2 \u2013 Sugar is the Sole Cause of Cavities<\/strong><\/em><br \/>Sure, sugar plays a role in cavity formation, but it\u2019s not the lone villain.
